Environment News

We recently made significant investment in our digital printing studio with the purchase of a new Latex Printer. This HP machine is not only Energy Star accredited for its efficiency, but utilises water-based latex inks that produce no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) and is solvent free.  VOC’s are responsible for contributing to local air pollution.  Following the success of this project, we plan on further expanding this technology to all our digital printing media in the near future, eliminating solvent based printing entirely.

In addition to the environmental benefits of this equipment detailed above, we now also benefit from a dedicated collection and recycling service from HP, for all their toner and ink materials.  This ensures that all such materials are responsibly collected and recycled.

In 2011, Benson Signs was the proud recipient of the Liverpool Echo It’s Our World Carbon Champion Award in recognition of its efforts to reduce its carbon emissions and improve the efficiency of energy consumption throughout the organisation.

In 2012 we were once again short-listed and invited to attend the Gala Dinner Reception where the winners of all categories would be announced. We were up against some tough competition as with last year, however unfortunately we lost out to strong competition.

We are honoured to have been shortlisted 2 years running, which just goes to show the consistent commitment we have made to improve our carbon emissions, and overall environmental performance.

The winners were The Museum of Liverpool.

In addition to being selected for the shortlist we were also proudly invited to sponsor the New Environmental Enterprise of the Year Award, which was presented by Managing Director, Chris Benson to the winner, Feed It Green, a Liverpool based Solar PV installation specialist.

Benson Signs is delighted to have been involved so heavily with these awards, which goes a long way to demonstrating not only our commitment, but also in recognising all the businesses, community groups, residents and individuals throughout Merseyside, who share our enthusiasm, passion and commitment.

More on the awards here.
