Environment News

Benson Signs has been at the forefront of sign manufacture and installation for over 40 years, supplying some of the most recognisable high street retailers and leisure outlets, as well as the public sector since 1969.

It has always been the philosophy of the company to invest in the best technology and be forward thinking, and this has been especially apparent with regard to environmental considerations.  From the adoption of Solar PV, to the specification of low carbon lighting in its products, the environment, efficiency and awareness has been a driving force behind the development of the company over the past 10 years.

Following the recognition of achievements with last year’s Carbon Champion Award, we felt it appropriate that we support the “next generation” of business ideas and development, and use our experience and achievements as an example and inspiration to others.

We are proud to support this award.

Benson Signs are proud to announce that they are the first signage manufacturer in the UK to be awarded The Carbon Trust Standard. This prestigious award is in recognition of taking action on climate change issues, by measuring, managing and reducing carbon emissions by 4.7%.

The Carbon Trust Standard recognises organisations for achieving real carbon reduction. Based on a rigorous, independent assessment, it certifies that organisations have measured, managed and reduced their carbon emissions across their own operations and are committed to reducing them year on year.

Graham Barker, Environmental Coordinator at Benson Signs, said:

“We’re delighted to have achieved the Carbon Trust Standard. It is a great way of showing our commitment when it comes to carbon management best practices, and gives us an opportunity to communicate our environmental commitment to our staff, customers, suppliers and competitors.

Cutting carbon is a priority for us as a business, as it not only increases our performance and efficiency, but delivers real reductions to our bottom line. We have already achieved a 4.7% carbon reduction, and are committed to making further reductions.  We already have a series of projects planned that we hope will increase this improvement considerably. Going through the assessment process to achieve the Carbon Trust Standard helped us generate cost savings across our processes and in many of our operations. In a climate of economic uncertainty, it’s essential that we remain competitive, and the Carbon Trust Standard is another way we can stay ahead of the game.”
